Pencil portraits, WWII and movie prints

What photographs should I send?

I would recommend sending 2-3 well focused portrait photographs. The more detail and definition the better. I can only draw what I can see in the photographs. If you are unsure about your photographs, e-mail them to me and I will be pleased to offer my opinion/advice on the suitability of the photographs.

How do I contact the artist?

If you would like me to draw you a portrait or other type of pencil drawing, please contact me via my contact page or send an e-mail to info@daveharrisart.co.uk. Please provide details of what you would like done and your contact details and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible by phone or e-mail (please state your preference).

How long will a portrait take?

Generally a portrait of a single person would take between one or two weeks, depending on how much detailing is required and whether or not the client requires any specific kind of background. Please bear in mind that portraits with more than one subject will take a little longer as do portraits of animals. The length of time the portrait will take will be discussed with the client before the portrait is commissioned and will also depend on my workload at the time (typically 2-6 weeks).

How much do portraits cost?

The prices page will give you a good idea of the cost of a portrait, but I will discuss this with you once you’ve decided what you want in the picture.

How do I pay for a portrait?

Full payment is required once you have approved a scan of your portrait by email. Payment is required via my secure PayPal account or by cheque.  If you pay by cheque the portrait will be sent to you once the payment clears. No deposit is required.

How are portraits posted?

All A4 and A3 portraits are packaged on a backing board inside a boarded envelope. All A2 portraits are packaged in a postal tube. I recommend the portrait is flattened on a smooth surface as soon as possible when you receive the portrait. All portraits are unframed as frames can be easily damaged in the post.

For delivery within the UK I mainly use Royal Mail Special Delivery.

If you have any questions, please contact me via my contact page or email: info@daveharrisart.co.uk.

I produce detailed pencil portraits from photographs sent in advance by the client, either by post or by e-mail. Information on how to commission portraits or original pencil drawings can be found below:

All artwork is drawn on acid free paper and a fixative is applied to finished portraits and original pencil drawings to reduce smudging.
